Testimonies

I know most of the people who are about to read this post are leaders at Sonshine Ranch and amazing followers of Christ. With camps only a week away many of you are going as leaders and are worried about the last night. The night were all the leaders get up and share their walk with the lord, the struggles they have faced and how the Lord has helped them over come what they have been through.

Sometime all it can take to change the life of a camper is their leaders testimony. They see that they are not the only one going through what either them or someone close to them is going through. They see that others have come through it and are living an amazing life with Christ. Sometimes the smallest word can have an amazing impact, an amazing effect on someones life.
I remember hearing (i know she is going to be angry with me for calling her out but its worth it) Heather's testimony. It was in the old green barn, on the old chairs. It was my first time as a leader on camp and as she was sharing what she had been through my hands became sweaty. I knew that everything that she was saying was from the heart. It sparked something inside me that cannot be explained through words. I'm sure i'm not the only one who has experienced this either as a camper or as a leader.

The best feeling is seeing one of your campers go and talk with you or your co-leader about giving their life to the lord. Knowing that something you have done, said or shared over camp has brought the camper to that stage in their walk with the lord. Then seeing them in the back room on the last night almost brings you to tears. I can't think of a better moment, its my most powerful memory of camp.

When it comes to sharing on the last night, when your shaking in your seat and feel like chucking up, ask the Lord your God to come and comfort you. Talk with someone before the meeting (not while Hans it speaking). Have someone you can talk to on camp if you are nervous about it.

There is an amazing concept that was introduced to me at Easter Camp, cardboard testimonies. This is where the quote "share your faith and only if necessary, use words". A powerful message can be 5 words long.

A few powerful testimony that inspired me to write this was Omega from the Parachute band. From a boy who hated God for what he had been through to singing worship songs a NZ's largest christian music festival.

Your phrase!

**This is something a little different** The holidays are almost over for some of us and for others who are going off to uni you have a little bit longer but sooner or later we are going back to school and for some back to a place of insecurity, a place where they really don't want to be, and thats all right, that totally acceptable and something very very normal but this evening (or whenever you are reading this) I want to challenge you. I want to challenge you to think of a phrase or a word that represents the mindset you want to be in this year, the thing you want to focus on and aim towards achieving. Trust

Have you ever had a friend that you called you bestie and you told them everything. Your biggest secret is now something that the person can use against you. You have trusted them with something important to you, did this friend show the same trust to you. We put our trust in a seatbelt that it will protect us if we crash. We put our trust in the teacher that they are teaching the right stuff. But how often is it that we trust in the lord. Is it because we cant see him or touch him. Maybe because we cant hear him speak the way we want him to. If we cant trust him with that little thing, how can we trust him with the big thing. We cant admit to him the wrong that we have done, we dont want him knowing what he already knows. Trust can take a life time to build up but only seconds to break down and another life time to rebuild. Have you broken someones trust that you spent a life time to create.
