Hey guys If there was anyone at the Ranch on the night before Horse 2 you would have heard me speak about reflection. I thought I might put it up for people to read. There is a slide show that goes with it so it might not make the most sense but still. :) We all know the story of Easter inside and out. Jesus was killed for our sins and hung on a cross so that we could be forgiven. We all know that part and that is the main message of Easter but tonight I just want us to focus on one thing, on the cross. Start by asking yourself this: What does the cross mean to you? You wear one around your neck on a chain, you could have one tattooed onto your body or imprinted into a ring. But what does it symbolize to you personally? I know when I think about it I can’t come to one answer. Things like, redemption, forgiveness and mercy come to mind. But there are also some more personal answers; I see it as a bridge, as a guide and as a place where my ashes and mistakes are redeemed for beaut...

Easter camp this year was a really powerful one for me. It made a huge impact on the way that I am able to see the events that occurred over the Easter period as well as changing my view on what’s going on around the world. Before any of that happened though over the weekend I was introduced to the true power of words! Spoken word is such a powerful tool for getting a message across to people in a new way. We were confronted by Micha, an American spoken word poet. He really challenged me, his ability to put pen to paper and express his inner thoughts so clearly through words is simply astounding. However it wasn't the way he spoke that got me no matter how powerful it was. Instead the things that he spoke of, things that were   so relevant and on par with the world, expressing the things that go through everyone's minds at some point took my breath away. There are a few verse in the bible that have really hit me hard and this is one of them: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run  with perseverance  the race marked out for us,   2  fixing our eyes on Jesus,  the pioneer  and perfecter of faith.   Hebrews 12: 1-2 I heard this verse read out in a song the night before my  baptism when my mind was seriously thinking through what I was about to do and it brought me to tears. So I thought I would break it down and try and explain the best I can why it is such a powerful verse.   To me this verse is a  challenge, to drop everything and follow God, to make him the center of our life. I heard a pastor at Parachute speak about this and thought I would put my own little spin on it. You have probably had someone say this to you before, "You are useless, mud, worthless; I would spit on you, etc etc..." Thing is, part of this is true, you really are no more than spit and mud. Give me a chance to explain why. Think back to Genesis 1, what did God make Adam out o?. He made him from the dust in the ground. He made man from mud, this useless resource God made man. So what? I'm not calling you useless because you are made of mud. In fact the very opposite. John 9  speaks of Jesus healing a man who was born blind. Back in those days you would have been rejected and pushed away for such a physical disability. However in this story it says that Jesus went to the blind man and spat in the dirt, mixing it together to make MUD! Jesus used this useless material to heal a man of blindness. He made a use out of useless. If Jesus can use mud to heal blindness...

When you think about the word 'indescribable' what comes to your mind? It might be a feeling, an emotion or even the taste of water (you know you can't describe it). What about God? What about his power? What about his grace? We can struggle to describe in words the one we call our God and that is totally fine and understandable and acceptable but today we are going to explore 2 of the indescribable things that God has done. Genesis 1:1 If you don't know what is written in Genesis 1 it’s the creation story. Now just think about it for a second. The first verse of the Bible describes the power of God. He has the power to create the heavens and the earth. That is an indescribable amount of power. Try wrapping your head around this. God created something out of nothing. He spoke and the world and everything was in it. Not only did he create these things but he created them and described them in as good. God created something by just speaking and it was good? So maybe you are going through a tough time, we all do and that’s completely normal. 90% of the time you will be feeling like you can't tell anyone about it, that it's something that you have to deal with yourself because you got into the mess that you are in and you feel like you can get yourself out of it no worries. Sometimes you can but often you can't. So I'm going to tell you right now, TALK TO SOMEONE. Who though? Who can you go to, who can I trust, who has the knowledge and the wisdom to help me? These are all questions you will ask yourself when you are thinking of someone that you can’t talk to. Often you think the answers to these questions are no one. I'm going to tell you that that’s no right and I’ll give you 3 examples of people you can talk to. 1) God, often we don't think of God first, we feel like we don't want to bother him with our problems. **This is something a little different** The holidays are almost over for some of us and for others who are going off to uni you have a little bit longer but sooner or later we are going back to school and for some back to a place of insecurity, a place where they really don't want to be, and thats all right, that totally acceptable and something very very normal but this evening (or whenever you are reading this) I want to challenge you. I want to challenge you to think of a phrase or a word that represents the mindset you want to be in this year, the thing you want to focus on and aim towards achieving. Having something like a this can be beneficial and really help you get through the tough time at school or with friends or whatever it might be. For me my word is 'Unconditional'. I have a feeling I have done one on this topic before but here goes anyway. I’m sure everyone knows what forgiveness is. It's that thing that you give someone when you have wronged them or ask God for when you have done wrong yourself. Do the words "I'm sorry, please forgive me" ring a bell? Yes forgiveness and saying sorry is that but it is also so much more! Can you think of the biggest sign of forgiveness that we have received? How about Jesus dying on the cross? Jesus died on that cross all those years ago so that we could be forgiven. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" In Luke 23:34, he asked for forgiveness in our place so that we could go to heaven. If Jesus can ask for our forgiveness for all the wrong we have done it can’t be hard for us to give or ask for forgiveness when someone does us or we do someone wrong, can it? It has been a rather long time since I posted anything and I am sorry for not posting but it’s time for all of that to change. I have spent the last few days making some awesome plans that I think you guys will love, these changes being: 1. Weekly posts, I will try my hardest to post something once a week. This will most likely be on a Saturday around mid-day starting next week. This post will be kinda advice, devotion like things that will allow you to reflect on what has happened over the week. 2. If I get around to it on a Wednesday there will be one of a few things, A) An 'ask me' section where if I have any questions from you guys I will do my best to answer them. Questions can be on anything but this section will entirely depend of if I have any.
