Personal: Easter Camp 2014 Reflections

Easter camp this year was a really powerful one for me. It made a huge impact on the way that I am able to see the events that occurred over the Easter period as well as changing my view on what’s going on around the world.

Before any of that happened though over the weekend I was introduced to the true power of words! Spoken word is such a powerful tool for getting a message across to people in a new way. We were confronted by Micha, an American spoken word poet. He really challenged me, his ability to put pen to paper and express his inner thoughts so clearly through words is simply astounding. However it wasn't the way he spoke that got me no matter how powerful it was. Instead the things that he spoke of, things that were so relevant and on par with the world, expressing the things that go through everyone's minds at some point took my breath away. I don't know anyone who can bring a room to silence so quickly.

The main speaker on camp was Danielle Strickland. Being a Salvation Army worker over in Canada she had some amazing stories of how God is working around the world. It made me realize that there is really no reason for someone not to have a personal relationship with God. That even the most broken of souls can be fixed through the power of God! Personally it made me think about how even though I do some of the things I do, say some of the things that I do I am forgiven and loved by God who accepts me in no matter what state I am in.

For anyone who hasn't been to a Holy Spirit Seminar I strongly suggest that you go to one. They are such an amazing time of reflection where you can really feel the power of the Holy Spirit working. I was blessed to be able to go into the seminar with some really close friends so was able to spend some time in an amazing prayer time with them praying just as guys about things that have been going on. It's such a powerful experience and really underappreciated prayer. 


If I had to sum up Easter Camp 2014 in a few words they would be, empowering reflective and eye-opening!

Your phrase!

**This is something a little different** The holidays are almost over for some of us and for others who are going off to uni you have a little bit longer but sooner or later we are going back to school and for some back to a place of insecurity, a place where they really don't want to be, and thats all right, that totally acceptable and something very very normal but this evening (or whenever you are reading this) I want to challenge you. I want to challenge you to think of a phrase or a word that represents the mindset you want to be in this year, the thing you want to focus on and aim towards achieving. Trust

Have you ever had a friend that you called you bestie and you told them everything. Your biggest secret is now something that the person can use against you. You have trusted them with something important to you, did this friend show the same trust to you. We put our trust in a seatbelt that it will protect us if we crash. We put our trust in the teacher that they are teaching the right stuff. But how often is it that we trust in the lord. Is it because we cant see him or touch him. Maybe because we cant hear him speak the way we want him to. If we cant trust him with that little thing, how can we trust him with the big thing. We cant admit to him the wrong that we have done, we dont want him knowing what he already knows. Trust can take a life time to build up but only seconds to break down and another life time to rebuild. Have you broken someones trust that you spent a life time to create.
