Indescribable

When you think about the word 'indescribable' what comes to your mind? It might be a feeling, an emotion or even the taste of water (you know you can't describe it). What about God? What about his power? What about his grace? We can struggle to describe in words the one we call our God and that is totally fine and understandable and acceptable but today we are going to explore 2 of the indescribable things that God has done.

Genesis 1:1
If you don't know what is written in Genesis 1 it’s the creation story. Now just think about it for a second. The first verse of the Bible describes the power of God. He has the power to create the heavens and the earth. That is an indescribable amount of power. Try wrapping your head around this. God created something out of nothing. He spoke and the world and everything was in it. Not only did he create these things but he created them and described them in as good. God created something by just speaking and it was good? We spend hours working on a project and then think it’s bad or not as good as it should be. God said one word and created something good. That is an indescribable amount of power, more then we could ever imagine!

Genesis 1:27
This verse, this is an incredible and powerful verse and yet it is so simple, 'then the lord formed man in his own image'. The lord, this almighty powerful being created you, with an intelligence, emotions, and opposable thumbs. That act is indescribable. How does someone, something do that. Humans struggled for years to transplant limbs and grow skin and God goes ahead and creates a full human body with emotions and all from just dirt. This complex one of a kind body from such a simple element. Not only did he do this but he made you in his image. This perfect creator created a perfect creation called humans and he declared them very good. That is truly indescribable.

That is two examples of some of the indescribable things that God has done and they are only in the first chapter of the first book of the Bible. There are another 65 books and 54246 verses left in the bible and it only starts to try and describe God. He truly is indescribable!

**This is something a little different** The holidays are almost over for some of us and for others who are going off to uni you have a little bit longer but sooner or later we are going back to school and for some back to a place of insecurity, a place where they really don't want to be, and thats all right, that totally acceptable and something very very normal but this evening (or whenever you are reading this) I want to challenge you. I want to challenge you to think of a phrase or a word that represents the mindset you want to be in this year, the thing you want to focus on and aim towards achieving. Trust

Have you ever had a friend that you called you bestie and you told them everything. Your biggest secret is now something that the person can use against you. You have trusted them with something important to you, did this friend show the same trust to you. We put our trust in a seatbelt that it will protect us if we crash. We put our trust in the teacher that they are teaching the right stuff. But how often is it that we trust in the lord. Is it because we cant see him or touch him. Maybe because we cant hear him speak the way we want him to. If we cant trust him with that little thing, how can we trust him with the big thing. We cant admit to him the wrong that we have done, we dont want him knowing what he already knows. Trust can take a life time to build up but only seconds to break down and another life time to rebuild. Have you broken someones trust that you spent a life time to create.
